What is Reverification?
Reverification enables you to confirm a user's identity again, ensuring their information remains accurate and up to date. It keeps verification records current, maintaining compliance with evolving regulatory standards. This ensures that identity data reflects the most recent and valid information, reducing the risk of fraud or outdated records.
Why Does It Matter?
It helps to keep users' information up to date. The user's document might have expired, and they may have updated their identification details over time. Revalidating ensures businesses always have the latest and most accurate information.
Some industries require businesses to verify user identities periodically. This feature helps maintain compliance with Know Your Customer (KYC) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) regulations.
By revalidating user identities, businesses can detect inconsistencies and prevent fraud attempts using outdated or incorrect information.
If an existing user has not logged into their account for a long period of time, re-verifying their identity when they reactivate their account can be a good idea to prevent account takeovers.
Businesses can view both past and current verification statuses, allowing them to track identity changes over time easily.
How It Works
Businesses can initiate a reverification request directly from the Verification Dashboard by clicking the Reverify button.
Once triggered, the previous verification is automatically invalidated, and a new verification attempt can be done.
Invalidating a verification means marking a previous verification as no longer valid once a new verification is completed. This ensures that only the most recent verification remains active and recognized by the system.Businesses have two options for reverification:
With Reference ID: Append the user’s reference ID to the end of the verification URL using this format: &reference_id=DJ-aasdfg55. Please ensure that the value after reference_id= is replaced with the actual reference ID of the user.
Without Reference ID: Reverification can still proceed even without appending the reference ID to the URL.
When the reference ID is appended, all reverification attempts are linked to the same user, enabling businesses to view the full history of verification attempts for that user in a single, organised view.
